Electronic Publishing Services, Inc., a publishing support company, produces high-quality electronic materials for both traditional printing press and the Internet. Established in 1988, we have grown with the book publishing desktop technology, advancing with the latest in computer software and hardware. We know book production. When EPS was established, we were looking for ways to produce the highest quality material possible for publishers that would also save them time and money. As technology grew deeper into the field of publishing production, the writing was on the wall. Learn the technology or get out of the way. Yet, the industry as whole was slow to board the technology train. Not wanting to be relegated to the background of this exciting new chapter in book production history, we took a big chance and a big plunge and invested in the hardware and software necessary to stay in the forefront of this movement. We quickly found that the new technology was something that was widely needed and highly sought-after in the publishing industry. We’ve never looked back. And, as we anticipated, technology has forever changed the face of book production. The computer has taken over almost every aspect of publishing. The Internet has become a staple and a necessity in most of our lives. When many others also moved into the technology for the book industry, a new challenge emerged: consistent, high-quality book production for a reasonable fee. Now that computers have become the main tool of the publishing trade, expectations are overwhelming, forcing companies to rely on cost savings while struggling to maintain high production standards. I often hear, “Produce more to sell more.” That’s profit-oriented thinking and it is good to a point. But what happens to quality? Quality has become the cornerstone of our mission statement: Produce the highest quality book possible, for a reasonable fee, and on time. Every time. EPS now has its name in books around the world, and we were the first company to produce a totally computer-generated college textbook for one of the largest publishing companies. We continued to work closely with them for years to assist them in the creation of a technological base that enabled them to produce all of their books electronically. Today, we continue to produce complete, ready-for-press books that include paging, line art, tables, and photography, as well as offering many other bells and whistles needed in composition and prepress. As we move into the next era of electronic publishing, we see ourselves continuing to be in the top echelon of book production technology, and will continue to excel in the production of electronic and print media for our clientele. |
