EPS works with, and is supported by, a freelance team. Our in-house staff handles most of our projects, both coordinating and working closely with our freelance staff to meet our strict quality and scheduling requirements. Over the years, we have grown a solid staff of very talented people that we use on a freelance basis. Many who have trained with us in-house in order to better learn our unique, effective and time-tested techniques. We have found that working with freelancers on a project-by-project basis has greatly reduced our production costs. This results in lower overhead and savings we can pass on to our clients, while still producing the quality work that we known and are recognized for. EPS is a highly experienced production house that has grown with the field of electronic book production. We remember the bumpy days of PageMaker in the 80s, but with the changing times, we have relied on QuarkXpress which is the industry standard, with Adobe InDesign beginning to show promise for book production. As we’ve grown with technology, we have developed and implemented many time-saving routines and procedures by using an array of helpful software and software utilities. We have proven that we can produce a product of the highest quality of work in a very timely manner.
Our techniques are a result of years of experience in the book industry. We produce all materials needed to complete your book package. We also assist in the production of the supplemental materials that are frequently packaged with many of the educational books we produce, such as workbooks, pamphlets, and media materials including VCR, DVD, and CD’s. We also can produce other supplemental materials, such as OHT’s, VCR and DVD covers, and reports. Most of the printers that we work with now prefer a PDF format for supplying final files. We have been continually impressed by, and rely heavily upon, the stability of this format for final press files and use it whenever possible. It is becoming a standard in prepress requirements making it easier to transfer files and eliminating the possibility of missing a file or font when sending files for output. We work closely with our clients to stay within their budgets. If you are paying more than you want to for a project, let us know. We will fit your project into your budget requirements. Many of our customers call on us when they have a project under a crisis deadline, knowing that they can count on us to deliver a great book, on time. Our team members work on each project as if it was their own. We guarantee that you will get the highest quality product from us in every project we create for your company. What we can do for you Design: Designs can be supplied in your normal process or we can design the project for you. When a design is received for a project, we will produce a sample document showing all styles and layouts with comments and suggestions for the problem areas. All design samples are approved by the client before any paging is done. If there are questions regarding the design during the paging process, we contact our clients with the issue and suggest creative ways of eliminating the problem. Manuscript: Electronic text files from the author is the preferred format for us to receive the manuscript. We will then input the changes from the edited hard copy material. Electronic files are highly recommended as they save money and time from having to re-key what is already captured and printed. We do have the capabilities to typeset if files cannot be obtained. Line art: We can create any needed line art for the manuscript. You can also supply us with electronic files that are supplied to you from your source. We can work from tear sheets or even a sketch from a bar room napkin. If files are supplied, each one is reviewed to be sure that they meet publishing standards and can be output successfully as a final product. Photography and Other Images: We accept any photograph or image electronically stored, or any media that can be scanned. We do not take the actual photos. We leave that up to the professionals in that field. The subject of each photograph or image should be determined by the client. We can, however, make suggestions from the thousands of images available through many imaging companies. |

Our office is Macintosh based, using all the major software tools of the electronic publishing business. This includes a lot of small tools to help out the large ones when it comes to maintaining quality while saving time and money during production. We also accept and convert files from and to other computer platforms.
